Historic Picton Walking Tour
The Historic Picton Walking Tour is a free self-guided tour around the highlights of Wollondilly’s largest town. Granted the weather is on your side, it’s the perfect way to step not only into history but the shoes of a local and experience the sights, sounds and smells (mostly of the local coffee shops) of Picton.
Picton is one of the earliest European settlements and a district rich in Aboriginal history. It was first discovered when a number of cattle went missing and were found by a convict in 1795 near the Nepean River. Picton today stands as a colourful town of friendly locals surrounded by a rural backdrop.
The Historic Picton Walking Tour covers 30 different stops to visit at your leisure. These include the Old Picton Post Office, St Marks Church of England, National Australian Bank, George IV Inn, the Mushroom Tunnel, the Railway Precinct and the Viaduct amongst many more.
