There’s no better way to experience what happens on an Australian farm than a visit to Mowbray Park. With a rich history dating back to the early days of the European settlement in Australia, the Farm has been running since 1822 and shares both traditional and modern farming with visitors.
There are a number of activities and experiences offered at the farm for every member of the family!
A Day on the Farm
A day visit to Mowbray is full of fun for the whole family and a great learning experience for both the little ones and those not so familiar with life on the farm. Activities vary from day to day and can look something like:
Tractor ride to the nursery; feeding a variety of outdoor animals, collecting some eggs; milking a cow; tending to the needs of the small nursery animals; Pony rides (under 8yrs); billy tea and damper making (around the camp fire). You might also spend some of the morning throwing a boomerang, cracking a stock whip heading out to feed some horses or cattle or sheep, watching a sheep shearing demonstration or even a natural horsemanship demonstration, so much to do on the farm!
You’ll also get quality time with all of the animals including donkeys, alpacas, sheep, pigs, ducks and more. If you are super lucky (and come at the right time) you might even get to see baby animals in the nursery.
There are also activities available in the afternoon such as archery, canoeing, tennis, swimming, bush walks, fishing (BYO rod) and mountain biking (BYO Bike).
Bring a picnic lunch or use the free BBQ’s and enjoy lunch in the outdoor or indoor dining areas. There is a cool room available for you to keep everything fresh and cold while you experience the farm.
